Construction is well underway on Rochester’s first interactive wine experience: Unwine’d. The wine bar located in Midtown will feature a self-serve wine wall with over forty wine options to choose from. This will allow visitors to conduct their own tasting or fill up a glass of their favorite, ultimately putting the control in their hands. Additionally, there will be a wine and spirits retail store titled “260 Wine + Spirits” located next door, allowing patrons the opportunity to purchase something to go home with. Construction on this project is on track for completion by Buckingham Properties in August of 2023.

The idea was born during a birthday celebration back in 2019 as Jim Muir and Paula Miceli visited West Indies Wine Company. They were both amazed by their self-serve wine bar which featured interactive wine dispensers. The couple fell in love with the concept and decided they had to bring the experience back to their hometown of Rochester. They soon linked up with Buckingham Properties to bring their vision to life. “They’ve always made us feel like true partners in this process. They have been timely in their responses, diligent when follow up is required, and have helped minimize the stress that comes with a project of this magnitude,” says the entrepreneurs on their experience working with Buckingham Properties.

The site chosen for the new business is ideally located on the ground floor of Buckingham Properties’ latest mixed-use redevelopment, 260 East Broad Street, chosen for the area’s, “rich history, importance to downtown, and the excitement surrounding the transformational projects going on in the area,” says Muir. The space rests alongside up-and-coming Midtown retail destination “The Grove” which is the pedestrian walkway residing between 260 East Broad Street and Tower280. There are 209 luxury residential apartments between the two buildings as well as 200+ employees working within the properties providing the perfect customer base for this bustling location.

“Unwine’d will undoubtedly be a great addition to the downtown community and specifically within The Grove as it continues to grow into a destination for all to enjoy.” says Ken Glazer, CEO of Buckingham Properties, and visionary behind the formation of The Grove.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the potential this area holds. As this project progresses, the rebirth of the Midtown District continues to unfold thanks to the vision and passion of those who so lovingly call Rochester home.
